  • Superintendent’s Message to the Community

On behalf of School City of Mishawaka Board of School Trustees and the Leadership Team we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Breana Rouhselang.

We want to commend the staff and students at Mishawaka High School for their compassion and strength during this difficult time. This school family, lead by Principal Jerome Calderone, has come together to grieve and support one another.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the dozens of people and organizations who have extended thoughts and prayers to our great school district. This encompasses our many community partners, including Saint Joseph Health System, other school districts, and those individuals and organizations we didn't even know before this week. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered and appreciated.

To paraphrase what leadership has shared over this past week, a tragedy that could have torn apart a school district and community, has brought us all closer together.

As we heal as a community, let us not forget the example that Breana set daily with her kindness to others.

If you feel you are in need of additional support, resources for coping with tragedy are available for you.
