The rate of pay for substitute teachers is determined by the School City of Mishawaka Board of School Trustees.
Effective November 17, 2022, our compensation categories for Substitute Teaching are as follows:
- Certified Teacher Retirees - New Daily Rate will increase from $125 to $150
- Teacher's License - New Daily Rate will increase from $100 to $150
- General Classroom Substitute - New Daily Rate will increase from $100 to $110
- Program Assistant Substitute - New Daily Rate will increase from $85 to $95
In addition, after 30 days of full-day substituting, an additional stipend of $300 will be earned, payable at the end of each semester. (excluding program assistant positions)
If a substitute is called and reports to a school for less than one-half of the day, the substitute will receive one-half day’s pay as a minimum, even though the actual time on the job was less than one-half day.
A substitute teacher holding a valid Indiana teacher’s license who serves in the same teaching position beyond fifteen (15) consecutive days for the same teacher will be compensated according to the regular teacher’s salary schedule, beginning with the 16th day of teaching. This is not retroactive.
