The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had

As an English class we usually make it through 3 novels in a school year. This past weekend I read another novel by Kristin Levin titled "The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had" and feel this has many important features that I would love to teach my class. The themes of this novel will resonate with my students and leave a lasting impression.

De-escalation/Cool Down Kit

Once a student becomes escalated in their behaviors it can be difficult to help them cool down so that they can once again join in classroom activities. We have found that having a cool down kit can help the student recover quicker. Typically a kit consists of play-doh and play-doh toys, bubbles and a pin-art toy. Each kit costs $19.00 plus tax - we'd like to have 10 kits available.

Leather Covered Seating

Leather covered seating for reading around the classroom. Over the years, the oversized pillows I have purchased have not been compatible with many of our students that suffer from allergies. Wipeable cushions for comfortable reading will definitely make my seventh graders smile (without the sneezing). Reading will be even more enjoyable with these comfy cushions.

I Will Always Write Back

I would like to purchase 21 copies of the story "I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives." The story follows an actual pen al relationship between an American girl and an African boy as they go thru their teens and young adulthood. This would be a great novel for cross-curricular learning to read as 7th graders learn about times of turmoil in Africa. This novel discusses the difference in American life and life in Africa. Each book is $9.24.

Wonder

I am requesting funding for a class set of the book "Wonder" by RJ Palacia. Also would like to purchase the picture book "We're All Wonders." Wireless equipment

Wireless headphones and mice would allow students to interact with technology by playing literacy and math games and complete programs such as reading eggs and extra math. Kindergarten students are coming into school not familiar with headphones and do not know how to use a mouse, therefore many of the headphones and mice are breaking. By having wireless equipment it would be less likely they would get broken and help students move around more easily when using technology in the classroom.

Ergo Kids Active Sitting Stool

Some students need to have other seating options other than a traditional desk and chair. Over the years, I have purchased several options for my students in order to give them an alternate seating choice during their independent reading and work times. I have already purchased scoop rockers, Bilibos, pillows, stools, stability balls and peanut shaped exercise balls. The Ergo Kids Active Sitting Stoll will allow those students who need more movement in their seats another alternative to a chair.
