Flobabulary.com

I am requesting a subscription for Flocabulary.com. It is an interactive website my students can watch and practice target strategies and skills that we are covering in each subject on a weekly basis. I am also looking to purchase a few interactive notebooks to help us work on English/Language Arts skills and a subscription to Super Teachers Worksheets for practice sheets over skills we are working on.

Sports Equipment

It would be fantastic to be able to order new middle school footballs, soccer balls, birdies, ping pong balls, and floor hockey pucks for the Physical Education Department. This may seem like a lot of different things; however, it would be beneficial just to order a few new things for the department.

Art Books

I would like to purchase a collection of art books for kids and drawing books to help build literacy and drawing skills in the art classroom. Currently, the art budget is spent on supplies. Having a classroom library of art books would be a nice extra for my students, offering them some reading/drawing activities in between finishing their projects.

Poster Boards

Our school is having a reading fair this coming March. The reading fair requires each student to complete a poster board on a fiction book of their choice. We are completing this project in hopes to increase family involvement and instill a deeper love of reading. I am looking to purchase poster boards for each student in K-2 classrooms. This will help many students in these classes who are unable to obtain these materials.

Educational Area Rug

I am in great need of an area rug or if possible a couple of area rugs. Our classroom carpet has seen better days. We spend most of our day on the floor as I love to have the kids out of their seats as much as possible. Big new educational rugs would brighten up the classroom but also provide a nice and comfortable place for students to sit, lay, and move about. I have foam tiles right now and unfortunately they do not stay in place and fall apart daily.

Chair Pockets

My students would benefit from these chair pockets to help them with organization and completing a task. There are times that the students may not finish something and they have no where to put it other than their mailbox. Then they do not get to finish it because they may not have the correct supplies at home to do so. If they were to have these chair pockets, they could put their unfinished work in a folder in the pocket to save for a later time to finish.

Buddy Bench

A second grade student, Norah Plonski, started a fundraiser to build a Buddy Bench for the Hums playground. The premise of the bench is to build friendships & prevent loneliness during recess. If a student does not have someone to play with, they sit on the bench, other kids see them and ask them to play. We have collected enough to build a bench and picnic table. The cost is approx. $1025 plus the cost of renting a vehicle to transport. The donation will help get us closer to our financial goal

The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had

As an English class we usually make it through 3 novels in a school year. This past weekend I read another novel by Kristin Levin titled "The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had" and feel this has many important features that I would love to teach my class. The themes of this novel will resonate with my students and leave a lasting impression.

De-escalation/Cool Down Kit

Once a student becomes escalated in their behaviors it can be difficult to help them cool down so that they can once again join in classroom activities. We have found that having a cool down kit can help the student recover quicker. Typically a kit consists of play-doh and play-doh toys, bubbles and a pin-art toy. Each kit costs $19.00 plus tax - we'd like to have 10 kits available.

Leather covered seating for reading around the classroom. Over the years, the oversized pillows I have purchased have not been compatible with many of our students that suffer from allergies. The story follows an actual pen al relationship between an American girl and an African boy as they go thru their teens and young adulthood.
