Simplified College Admissions for Mishawaka High School Seniors

Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) and School City of Mishawaka have partnered to make the college admissions process easier for high school seniors. Starting in fall 2025, qualifying students can bypass the traditional application process and submit only a brief online form. Admissions decisions will be based on a comprehensive review of factors such as GPA, diploma type, and test scores (if submitted).

“We aim to make college more accessible and support students in earning an IU degree,” said Andy Williams, Interim Deputy Chancellor of IUSB. This partnership also strengthens the local workforce, with many IUSB graduates choosing to remain in the region after completing their degree.

Mishawaka High School Principal Chad Brugh emphasized the importance of this agreement, noting that it provides students with a clear, simplified path to higher education. The initiative focuses on students who have taken advantage of Mishawaka’s dual credit courses, earned the Indiana College Core or an Associate’s degree, or completed one of more than twenty career pathways. These students are well-prepared for the academic challenges of college.

Cienna King, a former Mishawaka High School student and current IUSB student, expressed her excitement about the new process. “I believe this will reduce stress for future graduating seniors,” she said.

IUSB is also actively pursuing similar partnerships with other school districts to expand opportunities for students in the region.
