Each month, School City of Mishawaka (SCM) proudly recognizes one outstanding educator with the SCM Game Changer Award — an honor celebrating teachers who have made a measurable impact on student learning and growth.
This award highlights educators whose dedication, innovation, and support have led to significant academic progress for their students. While all SCM teachers are committed to helping students succeed, our Game Changer recipients go above and beyond in their efforts to inspire excellence.
March 2026 Honoree: Steve Kreinbrink
Mr. Steve Kreinbrink, a dedicated Health Sciences teacher at Mishawaka High School, has been named the March 2026 Game Changer Award recipient in recognition of his outstanding commitment to vocational education and student success.
Mr. Kreinbrink has built a program that combines rigorous classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training, ensuring students graduate with both knowledge and practical experience in the healthcare field. His leadership has produced remarkable results this year: 100 percent of his junior and senior students successfully passed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification Exam.
The exam requires students to demonstrate proficiency in both a comprehensive written assessment and a high-pressure clinical skills demonstration. Achieving a perfect pass rate highlights the level of preparation and confidence students gain through Kreinbrink’s program.
A key component of this success is the program’s partnership with Legacy, which provides students with opportunities to learn and practice in a real healthcare environment. The collaboration allows students to apply classroom knowledge while gaining firsthand experience caring for patients and working alongside medical professionals.
Beyond his impact on students, Mr. Kreinbrink is also a leader among educators. He regularly mentors fellow teachers and shares strategies that strengthen instruction and expand opportunities for students across the district. His commitment to developing both future healthcare professionals and fellow educators reflects the true spirit of the Game Changer Award.
