STEM Summer Camp
If you enjoy science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, then Summer STEM Camp is the place for you! Students will participate in hands-on activities to complete a variety of engineering projects and some basic coding activities to communicate with an Ozobot. The courses are available to all School City of Mishawaka students in grades 1–6 (entering for the 2018-2019 school year).
Week 1: June 11-15, 2018

Activities & Challenges
Students will lear the coding process using Ozobots. They will investigate to learn how they communicate and move. They will design a path for the small robots using paper and markers, and then move to coding and programming them using an iPad.
Engineering challenges are based on real world problems or start with a literature connection. Students question and gain background knowledge while gathering information about the constraints of the challenge. They follow the engineering design process to complete their projects.
STOP MOTION ANIMATION
Students will create a movie using Stikbots. They will learn about the process of stop motion animation and use the iPad to create their own movie using different Stikbot characters.
Forensics are based on fairy tales playing on ideas like: Did Humpty Dumpty fall or was he pushed? Did Goldilocks really Break Baby Bear’s Chair? Student will collect hair samples, fingerprints, animal tracks, and use color chromatography to figure out these beloved fairy tale who dunnits!
